Brean Cunningham

Founder

Brean Cunningham is a documentary producer, director, and cinematographer. One of Brean’s main goals at Keep Exploring Productions is to tell stories that inspire, entertain, inform, and send a message of hope into the world. 

Brean recently produced Basketball County: In the Water which premiered on Showtime on May 15, 2020. The feature documentary examines the reasons for why Prince George’s County, Maryland produces so many elite players in the NBA, WNBA, and college basketball. Presently, he is producing Out of the Ring, a feature length documentary that explores the world of New York City boxing and the long-shot nature of becoming a champion in one of the most unforgiving of all sports.

He directed and produced a series of climate change documentaries for Al Gore's NGO, The Climate Reality Project. The films aired during 24 Hours of Reality, a global live event on December 4-5, 2017 aimed at finding solutions to climate change.

Brean co-directed Dogs on the Inside, the feature-length documentary film that follows the relationships between abused stray dogs and prison inmates working toward a second chance at a better life. Currently available on Hulu, the film was released by distributor BOND/360 in 2015 on Netflix and was a Top Ten Documentary on iTunes. 

Brean has traveled to Africa, Nepal, and Indonesia to produce and shoot web advocacy videos about the positive effects of combating neglected tropical diseases through philanthropic donations of medicine.

Brean was a Cinematographer on Crystal Lake Memories, a behind-the-scenes documentary anthology about the making of the Friday the 13th films as well as a Field Producer on a short documentary about Churchill, Manitoba aka “The Polar Bear Capital of the World” and the people who live there.

Brean is a member of the Producers Guild of America. He got his start working on the set of the ABC TV series Desperate Housewives in LA and was walking down Wisteria Lane during one of LA’s many earthquakes. Brean graduated with a B.A. in Government from Georgetown University and watches way too many of the Hoyas’ college basketball games.
